what is yerba maté?
Yerba Maté (pronounced yer-bah mah-tay) is a naturally caffeinated plant native to the subtropical regions of South America.
For centuries, it’s been used by Indigenous communities as a sacred, energising brew — a way to start the day, bring people together, enhance focus, and uplift the body without overstimulating the mind.
Made from the leaves of the Ilex paraguariensis plant, Yerba Maté is traditionally consumed as a tea, and is today gaining recognition outside of South America, as a powerful plant-based, natural energy source or alternative to coffee.
Unlike most stimulants, Yerba Maté delivers a unique balance of natural energy and mental clarity — thanks to its combination of caffeine, theobromine (the feel-good compound also found in cacao), and a wide spectrum of antioxidants and polyphenols.
